Winchester WiFi
Winchester WiFi is an initiative to provide free internet access at specific Hotspots in the heart of Winchester, plus key locations in surrounding areas.
The audience for the service are the following groups - young people/students, businessmen, and tourists. The service will provide an alternative advertising medium for local businesses.
As a complement to the free User service, a low cost, fully featured Superuser service will be available in due course.
Winchester WiFi is definitely not a new Internet Service Provider (ISP), and is representative of Web 2.0 - “a second generation of services available on the World Wide Web that lets people collaborate and share information online.” *

Service Improvement Programme
Helped initiate and took Programme Director responsibility for a 9 month Service Improvement Programme with a major ISP, that:
Identified, prioritised, and monitored a range of initiatives and projects related to Service Improvement.
Identified significant OPEX savings opportunities around equipment installation.
Reduced Customer propensity to call by 20%
Brought about organisation change to implement an “In Life” management team .

Messaging Anti Abuse
The increasing pressure of SPAM e-mail on an aging e-mail platform was causing unacceptable outages. Although a Request for Proposal was underway short term action was needed, that would also yield a long term benefit. This was realised by the definition of the Service Specification for a tactical / 'proof of concept' implementation of an e-mail Anti-Spam solution, using Openwave Edge GX technology.
This proved entirely successful, and a full implementation has now been deployed with a major UK ISP, giving it what is regarded as a 'world class' messaging anti-abuse platform.
